The Forest
In collaboration with Ian Montgomery
500 glass and mirror pieces, golden cabinets, paper
Site Specific Installation
2009
Forest, the first installation in the series of landscapes, is a site-specific installation created at the Elsewhere Collaborative in Greensboro, NC.
A decaying room in a former 14-room boarding house was restored, exposing the room itself as a dynamic landscape in its own right while
building a forest of glass cabinetry. All the objects and materials that where originally found in the room where reused and reorganize to create it.
The room folds past histories into an ambiguous environment that reflects (literally) the reciprocal relations of originals and
transformations, history as maker, and artist as archaeologist of the present
